Magnitude of the Problem
The situation on the ground paints a true picture of devastation, requiring urgent action from all parts of the society. The long-term impacts of the floods are yet to become apparent, but infrastructure is so badly destroyed, it is hindering any relief and rescue activities.
Monsoon rains and flash floods have left over 800 dead so far across Pakistan, with hundreds injured and many still missing as per the National Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)
Over 1.3 million acres of agricultural land has been damaged in Punjab, and 58,000 acres in KPK
The total number of affected people is estimated to be above 4 million

Climate Change: Brutality in Action
Monsoon season in Pakistan is getting more and more intense, unpredictable and destructive with every passing year. The nation is yet to recover from the devastating effects of the 2022 Floods, and 2025 continues to haunt individuals around the country. Earlier this year, monsoon rains and flash floods claimed over 180 lives in the country, primarily in Punjab and KPK. The rains carried away with them homes, businesses and infrastructure, leaving behind a legacy of catastrophe and destruction.

Rizq Always on the Front foot
Rizq was one of the leading organizations across Pakistan during
Floods 2022.. Rizq volunteers reached the most remote areas of
South Punjab to bring relief to the communities, and the efforts
were widely applauded nationwide.
Not only did Rizq
provide immediate relief to the victims of floods, but is also
continuously working on rebuilding the affected communities and
transforming them to make them climate resilient through the
following programs:
Kissan Dost Program
Aims at capacity building of small-holder farmers by providing them interest-free loans, trainings and high-quality agricultural inputs to help increase yields through innovative and sustainable farming practices.
Housing Innovation Lab
Rizq is providing communities in Mirpur Khas with eco-friendly, low-cost housing solutions, made out of local materials. The houses are affordable as well as climate resilient.

World Central Kitchen partners with Rizq for flood relief activities in Punjab
As the Eastern rivers – Ravi, Sutlej, Chenab – began to flood, with the water levels reaching historically highest levels, Punjab faced the heaviest flood since that of 1988. The situation was further aggravated by high rainfalls and dam opening from India, leading to major cities like Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal and Hafizabad being impacted heavily, alongside thousands of villages, and over 2 million acres of agricultural land.

Rizq Brings Relief to People of Buner
The disaster in Buner was immediate. The Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) and the cloudburst phenomenon houses collapsed and road access blocked in the matter of minutes. This was vastly different from riverine floods, which can be expected and controlled, this was nature in its most brutal form – taking along with it every sense of life from thousands. The residents of the beautiful valley of Buner were left in shambles as they struggled to choose between survival and security, or rescuing missing individuals and burying the dead.
