Rizq Ramadan Philosophy

This year’s Ramadan comes with a background of devastating floods and agricultural damage. Traditional models of economics suggest that such supply shocks should lead to any rational, self-interested individual towards maximising his hold of remaining scarce resources.

Rizq presents an alternate economic system, one not driven by self-interest, but rather by an inherent communal responsibility. This system does not believe in a “scarcity” of resources, but an abundance. Sustenance - or rizq - in any shape or form are enough to fulfil the needs of all living beings. In fact, when shared with those around, these resources don’t reduce, but rather increase.
