Tenth Anniversary

Our story began in 2015 when we were sophomores at LUMS.
Despite Pakistan's large-scale food exports, we were struck by the harsh reality that 100 million people still went to bed hungry.

What started as three friends collecting surplus food in their cars, has evolved into a nationwide organization. Rizq now operates in multiple cities across Pakistan, delivering targeted interventions throughout the food supply chain while engaging students, professionals, and communities from all walks of life in the fight against hunger.

Open yourself to the sights and sounds,
The world is wasting, with “corruption” its ground.
We waste food and distribute unfair,
A billion hungry, does anyone care?

We've destroyed our earth, water and air
Leaving the next, with nothing to spare
We run after “nothing” , wasting our time,
See withering away, the youth in their prime.

We waste love and emotion, of ours and others,
We just waste something, cause we wasted another.
And what of the promising sounds and those unheard
Some waste their silence, others their “word.”

And most of all we waste ourselves
Our human bond and potential we shelve
But for what?
And for what?

We do all of this for some measly gains,
Totally unaware of its created pains
Corrupted hearts have made a corrupted order
Of our knowledge, environment, society and broader.

And from this system, more corruption sprouts
People sharing less and wasting about
Seemingly this is our world, where waste is from our growth
What a corrupted vision of progress we hold.

To save ourselves there is no other way
Returning back and on this path we should stay
Dig out and plant good, where corruption has roots
And Don't at all worry whether you'll see its fruits.

For you sowing a thought, is only the burden you bear
A new action, character and destiny will surely appear
