Zakat is the fifth pillar of Islam, mandatory upon every individual owning wealth beyond the Nisaab threshold. The Zakat amount is required to be spent on one of the following eight categories:

“Zakat is only for the poor and the needy, for those employed to administer it, for those whose hearts are attracted to the faith, for freeing slaves, for those in debt, for Allah’s cause, and for needy travellers.” (Quran, 9:60)

Zakat is mandatory upon every Muslim whose wealth (cash, gold/silver, investments etc) exceeds the minimum threshold amount from the following:

87.48 grams (7.5 tolas) of gold

612.36 grams (52.5 tolas) of silver

Every individual Zakat case is thoroughly investigated as per Islamic regulations before any money is spent.
Rizq spends Zakat money on monthly rations of Zakat-eligible families - giving preference to widows, elderly, orphans and disabled.
Zakat funds are also spent on individual education needs, medical cases or food at weddings for Zakat eligible individuals.
Trust has appointed Alhamd Shariah Advisory Services (Pvt.) Limited as Shariah Advisor to guide the management in collection and utilization of Zakat and to ensure that the whole process is Sharia-compliant, both in letter and in spirit.
Yearly Zakat reports are shared with the donors in Ramadan, to highlight where their Zakat was spent.
