Rizq Turns 10: Celebrating A Decade of Impact
Rizq completed a decade of operations in April, 2025. Starting off as a student initiative in 2015 to rechannelise excess food , Rizq has grown into one of Pakistan’s leading social enterprises working across 5 thematic areas, holistically targeting food insecurity. Rizq’s journey began in LUMS, and it was only natural that the celebratory event also took place in the same institution.
Rizq’s anniversary celebration had two distinct events: a policy dialogue in LUMS, and a main event on 4th December.
On 7th November, the Department of Economics, the Mahbub-ul-Haq Research Centre at LUMS, the Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR) and Rizq collaborated to host a workshop on the state of food policy in Pakistan, titled “Access, Resilience & Sustainability: Pathways to Food Security in Pakistan”. Rizq co-founder, Musa Aamir, moderated one of the panels, while the technical advisor, Dr. Mahmood Ahmad joined as a panelist.
On 4th December, Rizq’s main anniversary was celebrated with zeal in LUMS. Installations were set-up in the Central Courtyard of LUMS, providing visitors with a detailed, guided tour of Rizq’s entire 10-year journey along with interactive activities and picture frames. After the walk-through, the guests – including donors, partners, celebrities and volunteers – were escorted to a 2-hour ceremony featuring speeches by board members, founders and key supporters. An announcement was made from Rizq’s side for the launching of “Rizq Scholarship Fund”, which will support the education of NOP scholars at LUMS, along with the presentation of a calligraphy to the Provost Lums, Tariq Jadoon.
The night ended with dinner at the Executive Dining Hall and a cake cutting ceremony.
